We have all been on the courts and heard or may be have said “OK!  We want to win, so let’s play high percentage tennis.”   And then you are assuming that you know AND your partner knows what that really means. Right?

The definition of high percentage tennis (HPT) is easy: it simply means you are hitting the shot that gives you the best chance of winning the point.

Uhhh…Thanks?!

Some of us might think that that definition is a bit vague?!

There are some hard and fast rules to HPT that, once learned, really give meaning and substance to the term.  Without a more complete understanding, players anchor on some very basic constructs, such as:

  • Hit more balls cross court

  • Hit more balls down the middle

  • Never poach when the score is 30-40*

We know of only one source that really lists some of the hard and fast rules to HPT so that you can read them and you can make sure your teammates read them too.  You need to read the second chapter of “The Quick Guide to Strong Mental Tennis”.   Chapter 2 of the book explains over 20 rules of HPT so that you and your teammates can be smarter players – and you can WIN MORE GAMES.

It’s that simple.

* That “don’t poach” rule is often mistaken and this is NOT a rule for HPT
